On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Alexandra DeCandia shared her microbiome research with members of the Friends of the Island Fox community at their webinar "Date with a Fox" event! Her talk was titled "Mysterious Microbes: How bacteria may help island foxes & island spotted skunks co-exist" and detailed findings from her recent study on the puzzling co-existence of these two insular mesocarnivores.

Outreach @ Georgetown

​On Friday, February 2, 2024, Alexandra DeCandia shared her Channel Island Fox microbiome research with members of the extended Georgetown Family visiting campus for Senior Parents & Family Weekend! She talked about island fox microbes and disease risk in the context of wildlife conservation and management.

Wolf Park Webinar

On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, Alexandra DeCandia shared her canid microbiome research with the Wolf Park community through their "Introduction to the Island Fox" Webinar! She talked about the intersection of microbiome research and wildlife conservation in island foxes and Yellowstone wolves.

High School Outreach

On Friday, January 14, 2022, Alexandra DeCandia virtually visited her high school alma mater Princeton Day School! She met with future scientists in the PDS REx program to discuss wildlife research, non-linear career trajectories, and work/life balance as a scientist.

Skype a Scientist

 During the COVID-19 lock-down, Alexandra DeCandia virtually visited 12 classrooms through the Skype a Scientist program to share her Yellowstone wolf research with elementary & middle school students. Future scientists from across the U.S. asked fantastic questions!
